Marley's rash has cleared up completely and she has begun a taper off the steroid. So except for the side effects of the medication life is good. The combination of steroids and antihistamines have left our happy and playful puppy mellow and lethargic which people seem to appreciate. In just the last seven days we have had four individuals offer to adopt her if she flunks out. another side effect is that she drinks and urinates copious amounts.
Today was the fourth annual OccuPaws Bowling fundraiser. All the students were there and most of the alumni. Marley is excited to see other canines, but whether it was the medication or good training, she was quite disciplined when meeting her brethren. She was good even with the annoying little puppies jumping on her head and biting her feet. It was also a good opportunity to meet a lot of strange people - different people.
We caught up with Cinder. She looks well and behaved wonderfully. We can't wait to get her back in November. Her puppy raiser indicated that she has a high prey drive which is all too common for Labradors. If they could only breed that out of them :-)
We checked up on our next charge, Banjo. It is funny when from a calm state he bolts at full speed, for no apparent reason. Being three months old, Banjo has three speeds: chase, calm, and sleep.
“I’d be happy to have my biography be the stories of my dogs. To me, to live without dogs would mean accepting a form of blindness.” - Thomas McGuane
