Mounds

Woof,

Well fellow pups, I was going to tell you about our day at Mounds but Neva is being a typical little sister. Me Me Me, my turn to type on the 'puter, me, my turn...so I guess I'll let her finish.

Slick

Arffy yip,

Me n Slick gotted to go to a big dog food place today, but first he said we had to discuss things about how to act when we got there so I listened very closely this morning.

When we got there (we picked up Nikki and Reggie on the way) we got some tables and chairs and I almost got to lay down but everybody inna store all said "Ohhh, a puppy" and came over to pet me.

It was fun for a while, pet, kiss, lick, bounce, run, see other dogs walk by and then crash - I just had to sleep and sleep and sleep.

Then I finally woke up and Slick reminded me about "pace myself" and save energy. And all the time I just thought Slick was being lazy, but he is my big brother so I listened to him and we watched all the people walk by while we pretended to be asleep...cool huh??

Later,
Neva

Barktoberfest 2009

View all the photos from Barktoberfest - puppy raisers can add their photos

After much anticipation and preparation, we celebrated Barktoberfest at Tyranena Brewery this afternoon. The weather was less than cooperative, at least it wasn't raining. The cooperation of the OccuPaws Volunteers and generosity of atendees "overshadowed" the weather to make a good time and raise money for a worthy cause.

As usual the puppies were the focal point of the event. Three of our newest members (Maddi, Sonny, and Sparta) were initiated by Banjo and the rest of the pack - canine and human. We would have made a lot more money if we had charged people a dollar to switch holding/handling the puppies.

The most common reminder was that "Puppy teeth are sharp."

Settling into our seats to eat brats, drink [root] beer, and listen to the polka band put our more "mature" dogs in close proximity to each other. Slick, Reggie, and Divit were well behaved until my teenage puppy joined them and started causing wrestling with Slick. Reggie, our elder statesman, kept his distance from the fray. He eventually couldn't control his play drive and joined in.

Banjo and I had put in a full day before Barktoberfest even started. The Walk to Cure Diabetes was this morning. We walked the grounds, working the crowd, and meeting a lot of nice people, pets, and mascots. There must have been twenty mascots including Bucky, Scoopee, Maynard, Klement's Hot Dog, and State Street Brat, whose personal guide was interested in volunteering for OccuPaws.

Unfortunately we had to leave before the conclusion to help set-up at Tyranena.

Run Run Run

Wooffie!

What a fun day!

I met all sorts of girls who liked to oooooh and aaaaahhhh over my canine friends and I.

Today was the Delta Gamma 3 mile run/walk on the University of Wisconsin campus.

Of course, there were some male humans that were oooohing and aaaaahhing as well. I really liked one male human (he finished the run first), who laid down on the side walk and gently petted my tummy. That was heaven. He seemed to know exactly what I liked. I wonder if I will ever get to see him again…

My brother Deegan and my friends Geyser, Reggie, Banjo and Divit attended the event..

After the walk, we hung out on the Union Terrace. Some of the humans purchased Babcock Ice cream (Yummm). But no food for us!

Count me in the next time OccuPaws goes on campus!

Your friend,

Slick

Sunny Days

Hello fellow pups!

Did I have fun today!

I hung out at the Madison Farmer’s Market with my friends, Deegan, Canya, Geyser, Reggie, Marcie, Kathy, Theresa, Chris and my people Mark and Barb.

Mindy and Dan also stopped by with Jacob.

What could be better than be pet by all sorts of kids and adults, drink water, lay around and talk with my friends?

Ecstasy.

Poker for Paws

Greetings and Salutations!!

Slick has started his puppy rotation and has given me the position of "dog ghost writer" for him. Hopefully he'll be reporting from the field, but until then as a "newcomer" I'll do my best to report the news. My Name is Bodie and I am at Boot Camp to learn a few new things to properly help my young friend Tyler. I'm going to learn to work with a harness and to heel on the opposite side.

When I got here following a festive event "Poker for Paws" I met up with my pal Moby and a new friend, Lilly. I also met many dogs at the event today. I'm going to attempt to settle in and properly train these humans in proper dog treatment. We'll let you know how that goes. In the meantime, here are some photographs of today's proceedings.

All for now,

Bodie

That's a Wrap

Woof! Woof! Woof!

What a day!!

Hooch, Reggie and I spent almost the entire day helping wrap presents for Occupaws at East Towne Mall. We were a hit!

Lots of people pet me, and lots of people came up to our booth to have their Christmas gifts wrapped.

Mom did not wrap too many presents because she does not wrap very well, but she cheered everybody that was working on. But, alas, there were no gifts for me. Poor me.

As this was my first Christmas, Hooch, Reggie and I met and had a picture taken with SANTA CLAUS! He had a real beard and a white and red suit. There were little kids that wanted a picture too, so we waited in line for our picture. When I talked to Santa to try to tell him what I wanted for Christmas, he did not understand what I tried to relay by brain waves.

Nikki also took me up and down the escalator at Dicks sporting goods when Hooch and Reggie were practicing on the escalator. I was hesitant the first time Nikki took me up, but the second time up the escalator I was OK and remembered when dad took me up.

Near the end of the day, I got really tired. Getting pet by all sorts of people is tiring! Mom fed me right away when we arrived home, and I went right to sleep.

One thing mom told me on the way home, was that Echo had eaten a squeaker that stayed in his tummy and that is what made him so sick. I understand that Echo will be OK after surgery and rest. So mom was going to double check to make sure that none of my toys at home have a squeaker. I don't think we have any, but, you know moms - they just have to double check!
