Yesterday, Echo had his first accident in the house. He initiated the new bedroom carpet while Lisa and I were discussing our plans for the evening. I caught him midstream to minimize the damage and offer another alternative - need to look at this as a learning opportunity. If our puppies did everything right, they wouldn't need us.
Then this morning I was working at the computer while Echo was chewing on a toy in his crate. He got up, exited the crate, and practically ran out of the office. I quickly raced after him, all the way to the front door where he stood patiently staring at the door, willing it to open. He bolted to the grass as the door opened and made a terrific "outside potty". I was happy, proud, and relieved, he was relieved.
After our walk with the pack (Kane, Sable, Victoria, Leinie, Buddy and Echo) we went to Mounds because Echo needed food. It was quite a spectacle as we met a couple with two eight week old black Labradors. We all carried on at the front of the store for twenty minutes comparing notes and telling doggie stories as customers raved about the adorable puppies. It was the clash of cuteness and Buddy was the odd man out. Until one little girl asked to pet him. I told her "Sure, he's just chopped liver." She thought his name was Chocolate Liver.
